INTRODUCING TOPAZ PERETZ: DYNAMIC LA-BASED FILM DIRECTOR, WRITER & PRODUCER
Topaz Peretz is an up and coming Film Director, Writer & Producer, currently based in LA. She has an exhibition coming up in the only 7 star hotel in the world in Bali, Indonesia and she also has a limited edition exhibition coming up on February 2019 in Newport Beach. As part of her dynamic 2019, she is also reaching out to Manhattan, London and Italy with her art work.
Topaz was born and raised in North London, UK and is a British Citizen. Ethnically, she has an Israeli father and an Indonesian mother, yet was put into a catholic school, which makes for an interesting and diverse upbringing! She has lived mostly in London, but lived in Indonesia for a year, spent two years in Hong Kong, and is now in America. She spent one year in NYC and has been in LA for three years now.
Topaz is a part of the LGBT community and has her heart set on working towards female empowerment - the film she is working on (Dollhouse) will be a completely female crew, with the exception of one Executive Producer, who is bringing in the financing. Everything she has created has a meaning and/or message, and that is her branding. “Nothing made for dulling the senses”, she says.
She says “Film Directing is my goal and what I wish to do for the rest of my life. I knew I wanted to be a Film Director when I was 12, and planned the next 10 years of my life once I made that decision. I chose the university I wanted to go to at that age (after months of research), and honed in my skills since then. This meant learning all positions on a set, as well as doing two years of acting professionally, which brought my play to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I applied to only one university, as it was the only one I wished to go to, regardless of my grades and professors pushing me to apply for Oxford, Cambridge and USC. I graduated from New York Film Academy Jan 2018, and got my thesis into Cannes Film Festival 2018, which immediately brought me to many more job opportunities as mentioned above.”
