REVIEW OF NOOK BY STOOV: A DESIGN-LED, HEATED HAVEN FOR PETS ON COOLER DAYS
November 2026
There are few things more telling that autumn has arrived than finding Pierre le Croissant, our Chihuahua, curled up somewhere warm. Since the turn of the season, however, he has had a new favourite spot: Stoov’s Nook, a cordless heated pet bed that has quickly become as much a fixture on our patio as it is indoors.
Designed to provide gentle, adjustable warmth, the Nook uses infrared technology and has three heat settings. It can be used flat as a heated pad or folded into a more enclosed, nest-like bed, depending on whether its furry occupant is in the mood to stretch out or burrow in. Pierre, unsurprisingly, favours the latter.
What we particularly like is the freedom of the cordless design. On cooler autumn afternoons, we can take it outside without worrying about finding a socket, while indoors it can move easily from room to room. With up to 10 hours of warmth from a single charge, it can handle a day at home, and a car trip, if you’re travelling.
The Nook is also pleasingly discreet. Available in considered colours including Rust Orange and Midnight Blue (our favourite) and an extra-soft Woolly version in Dark Grey, it feels more like a piece of the home than a traditional pet accessory.. The removable, machine-washable cover is another welcomed detail - particularly as the bed is currently spending as much time outside as Pierre does.
For smaller dogs that feel the cold, it makes particular sense as the weather turns. It would also make a thoughtful Christmas gift for the dog or cat who already has everything, offering something genuinely useful for the long winter months.
Pierre has, of course, already made his verdict. The Nook is here to stay.

The Nook comes from Dutch brand Stoov, which has built its collection around a simple idea: warming the person, rather than the room. Its range spans heated cushions, blankets, chair warmers, hand warmers and pet beds, all using cordless infrared technology.
Founded in the Netherlands in 2014, Stoov began with a heated cushion created by founder Teun van Leijsen, who was looking for a more considered way to keep his wife warm. That original idea has since grown into a broader collection of what the brand calls ‘warmables’ — pieces designed to add warmth to everyday rituals, whether curled up on the sofa, working at a desk or sitting outside as the temperature drops.
There is something rather appealing about the premise as autumn approaches. Infrared heat is directed towards the body rather than used to warm the surrounding air, while rechargeable batteries and cordless designs mean the products can be used wherever an extra layer of warmth is welcome. It is a more personal approach to heating, and one that lends itself particularly well to those transitional weeks when the house does not necessarily need heating, but a little extra warmth is appreciated.

Stoov’s design philosophy is similarly understated. Its products are developed and engineered in the Netherlands, with an emphasis on durability, replaceable components and materials that are considered with their longer life in mind. Selected fabrics use GRS-certified recycled materials and GOTS-certified organic cotton, and Stoov became a certified B Corp in 2023.
There is also a practical thoughtfulness to the technology. Stoov’s SmartWarm system incorporates automatic shut-off and dual overheat protection, while its products are independently tested and certified by TÜV Rheinland.
Rather than treating warmth as something that belongs solely to the central heating or a winter wardrobe, Stoov has made it something more portable and individual. It is a simple concept, but as the days shorten and outdoor temperatures begin to fall, a timely one.
