As grey skies and June showers linger over London, there’s no better time to indulge in a sun-drenched escape - and few destinations deliver escapism quite like the Fairmont Monte Carlo. Just an easy flight from the capital, this iconic waterfront hotel has marked its 50th anniversary with a sweeping, multimillion-euro transformation that elegantly redefines Riviera glamour.
The beloved Monegasque retreat, first opened by Princess Grace in 1975, has unveiled a complete redesign of its guest rooms, suites, dining spaces and event venues, all while maintaining the timeless charm and warm hospitality that made it a favourite for generations.

The hotel’s interiors now reflect a coastal-chic aesthetic, with soft cream palettes, oceanic blues, and refined textiles that echo the serenity of the Mediterranean just beyond the windows. Whether overlooking lush gardens, the open sea, or Monaco’s famed Grand Prix Hairpin bend, each room and suite is now an enclave of calm. The introduction of Resort Suites for families, complete with kitchens and panoramic terraces, ensures longer, more immersive stays for those travelling en famille.

In this new era of elevated dining, food lovers are in for a treat. The newly launched Amù Monte Carlo, perched above the sea, celebrates Riviera life with a Mediterranean-inspired menu and a name that means “love” in Monégasque. Above it, Amù by the Pool offers cocktails and casual bites with uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, Nobu Monte Carlo has been redesigned with a fresh, tranquil aesthetic that blends Japanese minimalism with local textures, ideal for balmy summer nights.

At the heart of the hotel, the Lobby Lounge Restaurant & Bar has been reimagined as a 24/7 haven serving international classics with a twist and expertly crafted cocktails, all with a panoramic sea view.
Whether you’re planning a destination wedding with a view or a memorable industry summit, the new Le Grand Salon can now host up to 1,500 guests with enhanced tech and flexible layouts, making it one of the Côte d’Azur’s most prestigious event spaces.

The transformation isn’t only skin-deep. In line with Monaco’s sustainability goals, Fairmont Monte Carlo is now connected to the Principality’s thalassothermal energy system, using seawater to heat and cool the building sustainably. This pioneering project will help reduce Monaco’s carbon emissions by 3% and eliminate 2,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
As Londoners, we adore our capital - but sometimes, a weekend (or week) of Riviera sunshine, elegant service and panoramic terraces is exactly what’s needed to reset.
So, if you’re seeking a summer escape that pairs Mediterranean elegance with world-class sustainability, the newly transformed Fairmont Monte Carlo promises sun, style and substance - just a stone’s throw from the UK, yet a world away.
