RESTAURANT REVIEW: MAMOUNIA LOUNGE, CURZON STREET

Mayfair 5.jpg

Melissa and I recently enjoyed a delicious lunch at Mamounia Lounge Mayfair. This Arabian restaurant on Curzon Street serves up a taste-sensation: Lebanese and Moroccan Cuisine with a West London Flair. The restaurant boasts rich, deep colours and dramatic low lighting, transporting you to a warmer destination. The food is fresh and flavoursome, artfully arranged on the plate for that extra wow factor.

We decided to order an almighty feast in the name of Mayfair restaurant research, which required some expertise to consume as we were on the clock. To start, we shared an impeccably creamy, wholesome hummus and warm Lebanese bread with a hot and cold mezze sharing platter. It did not disappoint. Expect generous portion sizes here, perfect for those lunch / dinner times where you just want to eat.

More small plates followed. For the main, we opted for a super fragrant vegetable soup (not on set menu) and the Chef’s Flying Sea Bass. Delicious. As working lunches go, this was definitely one of our most satisfying dining experiences. I chose two mocktails over cocktails or wine - a bright and beautiful decision served with a burst of energy. Such a good move on a hot summer’s day.

The verdict: Mamounia Lounge presents brilliant, authentic Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine and fast service with a smile. You get your money’s worth here - portion sizes are a real selling point. If you need to be in and out of lunch within an hour because your boss watches your every move, this is a great spot for meetings with friends/colleagues - just make sure you don’t wear figure-hugging clothing because you’ll end up eating a lot.

If you’re up for a night of drinks and dancing, cast the hummus aside and grab the cocktail menu. Champagne cocktails include the Sheik Royal (vodka, Moroccan orange, elderflower), and Gold Digger (fresh passion fruit, vanilla vodka, Champagne shot, gold leaf flakes). It doesn’t get much more Mayfair than that. Visit on Friday / Saturday evenings for belly dancing, DJs and live bands.
