COMING SOON: MATT ABÉ'S FIRST SOLO RESTAUTANT, BONHEUR, ON UPPER BROOK STREET

July 2026

Acclaimed chef Matt Abé has revealed the name of his first solo restaurant: Bonheur by Matt Abé, set to open in autumn 2025 on Upper Brook Street - at the storied former home of Le Gavroche. Following an 18-year career under the mentorship of Gordon Ramsay, most recently as chef patron of the three Michelin-starred Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Bonheur marks an exciting new chapter for Abé - one rooted in joy, generosity, and refined British seasonality.

“Bonheur translates to ‘happiness’ in French, and for me, it’s about escapism,” says Abé. “We’re breathing new life into a legendary space, crafting something elevated yet welcoming - a place where community, craftsmanship, and the beauty of the British Isles take centre stage.”

Designed by Russell Sage Studio, the interiors will carry quiet nods to Abé’s Australian heritage, while the menu blends classical foundations with a contemporary edge. Seasonal produce will be the star, showcased across á la carte options and two carefully composed tasting menus.

For a more immersive experience, Petit Bonheur - a six-seat Chef’s Table - will offer guests a rare window into the kitchen’s inner workings and Abé’s collaborative approach to cooking.

With Bonheur, Abé steps into one of London’s most iconic culinary addresses with a clear vision: to honour its remarkable legacy while championing the next generation of fine dining talent.

Opening details, including reservations and menus, will be released in the coming months.
