AUTOMAT: A REIMAGINED AMERICAN DINING EXPERIENCE ARRIVES ON MOUNT STREET
20th August 2026
There is something quietly appealing about a restaurant that doesn’t feel the need to announce itself. Since opening on Mount Street this summer, Automat has been steadily finding its place in Mayfair - and now, with a reworked menu and the arrival of Autobar, it is entering a new chapter.
Hidden behind Tanner Krolle at 127 Mount Street, the intimate 67-cover restaurant draws on Automat’s New York heritage while giving it a distinctly contemporary London sensibility. The new menu takes a more ingredient-led approach to American dining, moving from Red Prawn Tartare and Green Goddess salad to Steamed Sea Bass, a Prawn Hot Dog and the signature Automat Cheeseburger. It is familiar, but with enough refinement and restraint to feel at home in Mayfair.
The real addition, however, is Autobar: a street-facing, late-night counterpart designed for classic cocktails, good snacks and lingering evenings. The drinks list keeps things deliberately uncomplicated — think Dirty Martinis, Negronis, Margaritas and Old Fashioneds - while the bar snacks elevate the familiar, from pizzette and whipped feta to Automat Chicken Nuggets with chive ranch and Oscietra caviar.
Set to a soundtrack of 9-inch records, Autobar feels particularly well suited to the kind of evening that starts with one drink and has no particular intention of ending there. It is a natural extension of Automat’s original spirit: sociable, slightly nostalgic and rooted in the pleasure of a proper night out.
Rather than chasing the latest dining trend, Automat is quietly carving out its own territory - a modern interpretation of American restaurant culture with a Mayfair twist.
Opening Hours: Tuesday - Saturday, 6pm - 11pm, Lunch coming soon
