CLARIDGE'S CHRISTMAS TREE CELEBRATES HOSPITALITY, ELEGANCE & GLAMOUR
I always look forward to the big reveal of the Claridge's Christmas Tree each year, and 2020’s tree was truly worth the wait. This year marks the 11th year that Claridge’s has invited a long-standing partner and friend to reinterpret the Claridge’s Christmas tree in their own distinctive style. This year’s collaborator is Kally Ellis, the founder of McQueens Flowers. Inspiration has been drawn from the hotel’s rich and glamorous Art Deco design heritage, evoking the Roaring 20s, a time when people were looking for a symbol and of hope and happiness after WW1. After a troublesome year, this message is much needed once again.
This beautiful, show-stopping tree stands at 4.5 meters tall, sparkling in all its glory in the lobby of the hotel. Each branch is adorned with over 10,000 crystals, glass garlands and pendants. The glorious tree sits on a magical mirrored pool that reflects each fragment of light, adding to the dreamlike winter wonderland. Adding to the Christmas charm, outside, designer Basil Ionides’ legendary leaping deer prances along the hotel canopy.
Kally Ellis says “The Art Deco architecture of this iconic hotel was all the inspiration I needed to create this gorgeous tree. It's a perfect celebration of Claridge's; of hospitality, elegance and glamour. It's especially apt that this year, when so many of us have been kept apart from our loved ones, that we remember the pleasure of good times we have shared together, and we look forward to doing that once again.”
