ENDO COMES UPSTAIRS: A RARE, 5-MONTH OMAKASE RESIDENCY AT ANNABEL'S, MAYFAIR

This February, Mayfair welcomes an extraordinary culinary moment. On Friday 20th February, third-generation sushi master Endo Kazutoshi of Michelin-starred Endo at the Rotunda makes a rare appearance outside his eponymous restaurant, launching a five-month omakase residency at Annabel’s, on the top floor of the iconic private members’ club.

Running until 17th July, Endo, Upstairs at Annabel’s offers both members and non-members the opportunity to experience Endo’s celebrated ten-seat omakase counter during the temporary closure of the Rotunda. This is sushi at its most intimate: a ‘hand-to-hand’ dining experience where the exchange between chef and guest is as important as the food itself.

Hosted by Endo and his meticulously trained team, the residency is rooted in the Japanese principle of omotenashi — the art of selfless hospitality. Guests embark on a blind 14-course tasting menu, with each dish revealed only as it is placed before them. Highlights include Endo’s signature ‘business card’: a perfectly formed handroll passed directly from the Itamae to the guest, to be eaten immediately. The experience unfolds with quiet theatre, guided by seasonality, precision, and subtle artistry.

Speaking on the collaboration, Endo says: “I have an opportunity to make the food I love and reconnect with guests outside of the Rotunda, and to meet new friends along the way too. My team and I are ready to welcome you all and we hope you enjoy this demonstration of my sushi and hospitality in a different setting.”

True to his practice, the menu reflects Endo’s deep connection to Japanese culture, drawing on omakase techniques and slow, considered recipes passed down from his grandfather — the first sushi master in the family.

Annabel’s adds: “We are delighted to welcome Endo Kazutoshi and his team to Annabel’s for this five-month residency. Endo’s mastery and reverence for Japanese culinary tradition offer our Members and guests a rare and distinctive dining experience.”

The omakase menu is priced at £245 per person, with the option of a £120 sake pairing or an elevated £250 drinks pairing, created in collaboration with Annabel’s team. Expect a thoughtful selection of sakes, Japanese-inspired cocktails, and fine wines.

Service runs Tuesday to Friday evenings, with sittings at 6pm and 9pm. Select services will be reserved exclusively for members, with remaining reservations available to non-members via The Rotunda’s website. In keeping with the spirit of immersion and discretion, photography is not permitted, and guests will be asked to place phones in secure boxes at the start of service.

For Mayfair diners, this is more than a residency — it’s a fleeting, deeply personal encounter with one of London’s most revered sushi masters, set within one of the neighbourhood’s most storied addresses.
